There are 7 ANM centers present in Srikakulam district. The duration of course is 18 months. ANM అంటే = Axillay Nurse Midwife.

There are 4 Training centers in Srikakulam Town ->

1.Pyditalli ANM center------- APHB colony -------------40 seats ,
2.Good health ANM center--- Govt.college Road ---------26 seats ,
3.Narayana ANM center ---- near RTC comples -------- 40 seats ,
4.Raviteja ANM center -------near court comples--------40 seats ,

Out side the Dist head quaters there are 3 ANM centers present .
1. Sarojini ANM center ------- Narasannapeta ----------40 seats ,
2. Satyasai ANM center--------Tekkali------------------20 seats ,
3. Nagavali ANM center--------Rajam-------------------40 seats ,

duties :

• Maternal Health,
• Child Health and Family Planning Services;
• Nutrition Education;
• Health Education;
• Collaborative Service for Improvement of Environmental Sanitation;
• Immunisation for Control of Communicable Diseases;
• Treatment of Minor Ailments and First Aid in Emergencies and Disasters.

In addition to these duties, the ANM would perform the following functions in guiding and training the female Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA), as envisaged in the Guidelines on ASHA, under NRHM:

• Holding weekly / fortnightly meeting with ASHA to discuss the activities undertaken during the week/fortnight.
• Acting as a resource person, along with Anganwadi Worker (AWW), for the training of ASHA.
• Informing ASHA about date and time of the outreach session and also guiding her to bring the prospective beneficiaries to the outreach session.
• Participating and guiding in organising Health Days at Anganwadi Centre.
• Taking help of ASHA in updating eligible couples register of the village concerned.
• Utilising ASHA in motivating the pregnant women for coming to Sub-Centre for initial check-ups.
• ASHA helps ANMs in bringing married couples to Sub-Centres for adopting family planning.
• Guiding ASHA in motivating pregnant women for taking full course of iron folic acid (IFA) tablets and TT injections, etc.
• Orienting ASHA on the dose schedule and side affects of oral pills.
• Educating ASHA on danger signs of pregnancy and labour so that she can timely identify and help beneficiary in getting further treatment.
• Informing ASHA about date, time and place for initial and periodic training schedule. ANM would also ensure that during the training ASHA gets the compensation for performance and also TA/DA for attending the training.

• 

ఎ.ఎన్‌.ఎం.(ANM)లనే బహుళార్ధ సాధక ఆరోగ్య కార్యకర్తలు(multipurpose health workers(MPHW-F)) అంటారు .

ప్రతి గ్రామ పంచాయతీలోని అయిదు వేల జనాభాకు ఇద్దరు చొప్పున ఆరోగ్య కార్యకర్తలు (ఎఎన్ఎం) ఉంటారు. వీరు స్థానిక నివాసం ఉండాలి.

ప్రతీ బుధవారం, శనివారం వ్యాధి నిరోధక టీకాల ద్వారా ఏడు ప్రాణాంతక వ్యాధుల (క్షయ, ధనుర్వాతం, కోరింత దగ్గు, కంఠవాపు, పోలియో, తట్టు, పెపటైటిస్ 'బి')కు టీకాలు ఇవ్వాలి.

గర్భిణులను గుర్తించి నెలల వారీగా ఆరోగ్య సేవలు అందించాలి. అవసరమైతే అంబులెన్స్‌లో సమీప ఆరోగ్య కేంద్రానికి తీసుకెళ్లి వైద్యసేవలు అందేలా చూడాలి. వారికి ప్రభుత్వాసుపత్రిలో ప్రసవం జరిగేలా సహకరించాలి.

కుటుంబ నియంత్రణ
ఒకరు లేదా ఇద్దరు పిల్లల తరువాత ఈ ఆపరేషన్ చేయించుకున్న వారికి పారితోషికం ఇస్తారు. దీంతో పాటు జననీ సురక్ష యోజన డబ్బులు కూడా లబ్ధిదారులకు ఇస్తారు.

గ్రామీణ ఆరోగ్య పారిశుద్ధ్య పథకం కింద ప్రతీ గ్రామ పంచాయతీకి జనాభా ప్రాతిపదికన రూ.10,000 చొప్పున విడుదల చేస్తారు. వీటిని గ్రామ సర్పంచి ఎ.ఎన్.ఎం. ఉమ్మడి ఖాతాలో వేసి కాల్వలు శుభ్ర పరచడానికి, బ్లీచింగ్ పౌడర్ కొని, బావులను, మంచినీటి వనరులను క్లోరినేషన్ చేయడానికి వాడవచ్చు.
