Jama Masjid also Jami Masjid, refers to the Friday Mosque, where Jummah or weekly Friday noon congregation prayers of Muslims take place. In Srikakulam the Jama Masjid is a religious place to see is a beautiful mosque that reflects the Islamic style of architecture. It has been built over centuries and is of impressive architecture . It has four tall spiral towers which can be seen over the rooftops and many prayer halls , each made of a piece of deodar tree trunk. It also has a garden and a place for those seeking peace and solitude.
Jamia Masjid of srikakulam is one of the biggest Mosque in Andrapradesh . This was constructed by first Foujdhar of Chikakole(old name for present Srikakulam town) late Sri Share Mohammdh Khan .. during 'KuleeKutubh Shaw ruling time . 18 ekars of land was alloted for this mosque and is an example 4 centuries of Muslims history in Srikakulam town . This walls are constructed with Lime & Rocks and there Two Minars each constructed with 3 single big rocks . inside the Mosque there are five flower like designs present and we can hear five different sounds ... one from each . This is the specialty of building .
There is a saying that a pigeon was used to do 'Namaj" on hearing the prayers of Religious priests . A samaadhi of that Pigeon constructed in this mosque after death of that pigeon .
శ్రీకాకుళం జామియా మసీదు శ్రీకాకుళం పట్నం నడిబొడ్డున సూర్యమహల్ జంక్షన్‌ కి దగ్గరిలో ఉన్నది. దీనిని శుక్రవారం మాస్క్ అని పేరు ఉంది . ప్రతి శుక్రవారము ముస్లిం సోదరులు ప్రార్ధనలకు వస్తారు. దీనిలో నాలుగు టవర్లు నాలుగు దిక్కులా ఉండి ఇస్లాం భవన నిర్మాణ స్టైల్ ని పోలి ఉంటుంది. రాస్ట్రములోని అతిపెద్ద మసీదుల్లో ఇదొకటి . కులీకుతుబ్ షా కాలములో చికాకోల్ తొలి ఫౌజ్ దార్ గా నియమితులైన షేర్ మహమ్మద్ ఖాన్‌ కాలములో దీన్ని కట్టారని పెద్దలు , చరిత్రకారులు చెప్తారు. తరతరాల ముస్లిం చరిత్రకు సజీవ సాక్షింగా , నాలుగు శతాబ్దాల ఘన చరిత్ర ఉన్నది. 18 ఎకరాల విస్తీర్ణం లో దీనిని నిర్మించారు .
ప్రస్తుత కాలములో సిమ్మెంటు , ఇనుము విపరీరము గా వాడి అన్ని భనాలు కట్టడము జరుగుతూఉంది. . . కాని దీన్ని సున్నము , రాతి కట్టడం తో నిర్మించారు. ఎత్తుగా మూడు ఏకశిలల తో కాట్టిన రెండు మీనార్లు దర్శనమిస్తాయి. లోపల భాగములో ఐదు పూల ఆకారాలలో మీనార్లు ఉండి ఒక్కోదగ్గర ఒక్కో శబ్దం వినిపించడము విశేషము . మతగురువులు ప్రార్ధనలు విని అక్కడొక పావురము నమాజు చేసేదని ప్రశస్థి .. ఆ పావురము చనిపోగా దాని సమాధి కూడా నిర్మించారు .
గ్యార్వీ షరీఫ్ ఉత్సవం :
ఇరాక్ బాగ్దాద్ షరీఫ్ షేక్ అబ్దుల్ ఖాదీర్ జిలానీ జ్ఞాపకార్ధము ఈ ఉత్సవము నిర్వహిస్తారు . 2014 లో ఫిబ్రవరి 11 మంగళవారము జరిపారు. ఈ ఉత్సవములో భాగము గా ఉదయం ఫజర్ నమాజు , ఖురాన్‌ పఠనము , మగరీబ్ నమాజు , అనంతరము ముస్లిం మత పెద్దలు ఆధ్యాత్మిక ప్రసంగం జరిగినది. కలకత్తాకు చెందిన ముఫ్తీ మహమ్మదద్ అఫ్జల్ హుస్సేన్‌ రీజ్వీ మిన్‌బాహీ ఆధ్యాత్మిక ప్రసంగం చేసారు . ఈ కార్యక్రమములో జామియా మసీదు ఇమామ్‌ మెహతాబాలం అలీం , సుల్తాన్‌లు , మత పెద్దలు ,పెద్ద సంఖ్యలో ముస్లిం లు పాల్గొన్నారు .
