Baruva is a picturesque beach resort in Srikakulam District. It is one of the most beautiful beaches at the shores of the Bay of Bengal, on the costal line of Srikakulam dist with a stretch of 193 km coastline . t is about 5 kms from the town of Sompeta and is at a distance of 109 km from Srikakulam Town.
Baruva is a village, a fishing and coastal port, is set amidst lush coconut groves and paddy fields, and a beach resort located near Sompeta in Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh, India.
*Baruva is at the shores of the Bay of Bengal, It is one of the oldest beaches in Andhra Pradesh. It was used as a seaport up to 1948. In July 1917 a ship carrying goods sank in the sea. To commemorate this sad incident a pillar was constructed.
* There are Durga Temple, Kotilingeswara Swamy Temple (It is said that 99,99,999 Lingas appeared here that why it is known as Kotilingeswara Swamy Temple) and Janardhana Swamy Temple are situated near the beach. Every year people celebrate the Sivaratri festival very grandly.
* River Mahendra Tanaya merges in Bay of Bengal at this place.
* There was a harbor at Baruva in the era of British colonial rule in India. The harbor is closed; but the old light house had existed till 2000.
* Baruva railway station is located on Howrah-Chennai mainline. Passenger trains that run from Palasa towards Khurda Road station halt at Baruva station.
* Baruva ia called as second Goa , in winter season the beach is busy with picnics.

There are four beach resort cottages at Baruva and construct two more to attract tourists.
Four cottages were constructed at Baruva beach in 1997 but they had gone defunct. On a representation, the Tourist Department had agreed to release Rs.75 lakhs for taking up repairs to the four cottages with Rs.18.75 lakhs and construct two more with modern facilities at an estimated cost of Rs. 56
