Ayyappa swamy temple is on the banks of River Nagavali at Balaga street of srikakulam Town. This Diety(idol) of Ayyappa is made of Pancha Loha(five matal) . Along with this diety ... Mahaganapathi , Venkataramana murty , subramanya swamy , Shiva linga , nandi , diety are kept here and pratista was done at the same time .
Exercise behind the establishment of this great temple :
in 1978 under the guidence of Umadeexith & Premijee, ... Ayyappa 'Vratha and Sabarimala yaatra Strated from Srikakulam . . . this year only two persons(swamijis) from srikakulam followed them to sabarimalai . 2nd year swamijis from Srikakulam became seven that were gone to Sabarimalai . Year by year the number of swamijis increased and at point all the devotees had an idea to construct a Ayyappa temple in Srikakulam town ... and they formed a society called " Ayyappa swamy seva sangham" in 1980 . In 1986 on April 23rd they acquired ten cents of land at Balaga between Palakonda road and Nagavali river .
Agama shaastra panditas and Veda vidvaamshas , aproved the land & place to be good for temple. in 1987 kanchi kamakoti peetadhipathi Sri jayendraSaraswathi blessed the Ayyappa sangham of Premji & deciples who met the Sri JayendraSaraswathi jee.
in 1987 on feb.21st another 20 cents land acquired and added to the old one . . . in long run the temple area became 200 cents (2 yekars)
On 24-11-1998 sri Perla Govindarajulu laid foundation under guidence of Sri Rajaraja Varma of Vantularaju Vamsham . Ganapathi pooja & Sudarshana Homam was done by Sabarimalai main Poojaari Brahmasri Maheswarutantri .
Sri Velayappa Shaatri of Travankole Devanwam board native sculpture gave this temple plan , local engineer Mrs.P.Sharadadevi helped in constuction and her husband sri p.pratap had done the pratista of Dwajastamba .
Most of the expenditure met by donations of Devotees and this was done by sincere work of Mr.reddi chiranjeevi , sadu lakshminarayana , p.ramakrishnarao ,and magatapalli narasimhamurty .
On the back side of temple for daily baths of devotees " Manikanta ghat " was constructed on the bank of Nagavali river. Ayyappa puskarini dug and decorated with the help of M.P. sri K.Yerramnaidu.
On Sankranthi ,Shivaratri , Ayyappa Janma nakshatra pratista and poojas will be celebrated every year in a grand way .
